DIY (do-it-yourself) Flower Displays
Why spend extra for a professional florist to do the work if you can be just as creative and save a little money by doing it yourself? Putting flower displays together isn’t for everyone, but with a little research and creativity, you can create flower arrangements yourself that rival ones other people spend a lot of money to purchase.
Research
The more you research before hand, especially if you’re brand new to do-it-yourself flower arrangements, the happier you’ll be with your finished product. Whether it’s browsing online at flower arrangement pictures to get ideas (right click the picture and click Save As to store the photo on your computer to look at later) or you talk to a local florist, getting information and advice beforehand will help you having to make common mistakes yourself when creating your first flower arrangements.
Experiment
Once you know what you want – either you have a picture of it or you can see it in your mind – you’ll want to buy a small amount of flowers and tools to begin to play with different arrangements and ways to show the flowers. You want always get it just-right the first time, so take your time and play with different ways of arranging the flowers.
One tip is to snip the bottom of the flowers only a little bit at a time until you know for sure they’re going to sit in the vase how you want them to sit there. Once you snip the stem, there’s no going back so be conservative.
Display
Once you know how you’re going to do it, and what you’re going to display it in, it just comes down to ordering the flowers and putting them together in a flower arrangement that will get a lot of compliments.
Do-it-Yourself
Do-it-yourself flower arrangements are an easy and practical way to brighten your home or add cheer to weddings or other events. It does take a creative touch and a little bit of knowledge about flowers and how to care for them, but if you have the creativity the time invested in gaining that knowledge is more than worth it in the long run.
